Team Member Conducts Foil Testing for IMAP-Hi Instrument

09-13-2024 12:09

Frédéric Allegrini installs IMAP-Hi conversion foils onto their testing plate.

Conversion foils are very thin carbon foils used to ionize the neutral atoms that IMAP-Hi will measure. Converting neutrals to ions allows IMAP-Hi to then use electric fields to characterize them. In this picture, Frédéric Allegrini prepares 8 foils for testing.
