Flandrau Science Center & Planetarium's Summer Fusion Camp had the opportunity to engage with several IMAP activities and host IMAP expert Dr. Joe Giacalone. Campers in our 2nd-3rd grade program enjoyed I Spy IMAP and How the Solar Wind Blows, while our 4th-5th and middle school campers explored Chain Reaction, Modeling the Heliosphere, Perfect Flow, Space Salvage, and Messages from IMAP. Campers were also excited to use the Galileoscopes with solar filters and the solar viewing tent to safely observe the Sun. Dr. Giacalone gave an inspiring presentation that helped campers better understand the IMAP mission and the exciting science behind it. From modeling the heliosphere to meeting a real IMAP scientist, these engaging experiences sparked curiosity, encouraged scientific thinking, and inspired the next generation of scientists, engineers, and innovators.
