We had 942 people join us for Astro Adventure Day which is one of my favorite events at MSC and I am happy to share that IMAP was apart of it this year. We took two of the activities and modified them to a more pop up oriented activity. We found Communication in Color, while fun, groups often couldn't stay long enough able to complete the full light bright picture so we decided that each group would add a little bit to each light bright until we had the full picture but we did still run into issues as groups had a hard time finding where the last group left off on the guide sheet and we still couldn't get a full completed picture with the pop up style activity. So to make the activity work for our pop ups we decided instead of using four light bights for one picture we would split each light bright into four quadrants and have each group do one quadrant that way we could start getting fuller pictures. We also lamented the guide sheets so guests could easily mark off which squares they had filled in making it easier for them to keep their spot and make it so the next person could easily pick up where they left off. This activity was so fun we actually bought ourselves extra light bights! The other activity was Space Dust. The activity was modified to match more closely to our age ranges and make it less messy. We replaced the dust with multi colored confetti as it is much more manageable than glitter and only used one shaker for each guest. We assigned each color with different elements you can find out in space. We had guest attach a thing of sticky paper to the bottom of the tube and then shake the dust in this allowed them to easily analyze their sample and even take the sample with them.
